In today’s economy consumers may delay big purchase items such as house and car, but reward themselves with small purchases such as a bag or a pair of shoes. Fashion Access is proof of this.
Showcasing spring-summer 2010 collections until October 8th at HKCEC, Fashion Access is offering a wide range of fashion choices to buyers: from bags and footwear to leather goods, travelware, hats, scarves, lifestyle accessories and some clothing. Despite the still soft economic environment, the fair opened with over 350 exhibitors from 25 countries with 9 country pavilions.
Senior event manager Perrine Ardouin said: “Fashion Access is ready to welcome a larger scope of products to further strengthen the fair’s ‘Total Look’ offer. Step by step we are growing to meet all the needs of fashion professionals. The fair is moving up in the fashion world”.
Said buyer Brigitte Almond from Australian fashion accessories brand, Condura: “We are very happy with the range and diversity and are pleased to have found quite a number of good exhibitors at the fair”.
There are 60 new exhibitors this October. Bernard Bultemeier from first-time exhibiting company International Colours said: “Fashion Access is the ideal platform for us to launch our 6 year old premium all-leather Jekyll & Hyde branded goods to the world.”
At the fair to find worldwide distributors, Bultemeier said: “After 1 day we have already met potential distributors from Southern Europe, Turkey, Canada, India, Singapore and Hong Kong."
Jekyll & Hyde features classic styles that marry function and aesthetic. Its range includes bags, wallets, travel bags, brief case, laptop case, belts, and jackets. They are proud of the eco process, such as organic dyes, they use to produce their leather goods.
Meanwhile returning exhibitor Bagmaker of India, a participant since 1992, concentrates on non-leather fashion accessories of bags, scarves in rich colours and bold designs embellished with embroidery and beading. “Fashion Access has brought us much business opportunities through the years. It is a must attend show for us, year after year”, said managing director, Rakesh Juneja.
"I am so glad that I made it to this event as one of my clients doubled their previous order with us", said Vicky Amalingan-Sales of 75 year old S.C. Vizcarra from the Philippines, famous for its eco-approach basket weave bags made with leather, cane, abaca, wicker & water hyacinth. She nearly missed the show because her factory was caught in the recent severe typhoon that flooded and devastated Manila. The success of her past participation at Fashion Access compelled her to be present in rain, shine, storm or flood.
Now, entering Day 2 of the Fashion Access: besides the fair-long highlights Sustainable World, branded Brazilian footwear, a new Korean Pavilion and the Fashion and Materials Trends Lounges, buyers are invited to attend the first-ever Sustainable Fashion Forum, a half-day event where fashion professionals will come together and discuss a common concern for social and environmental sustainability and its affect on fashion businesses.
